Is anyone aware of Coquitlam Search & Rescue operation on Eagle Mountain this weekend to rescue an injured mt biker? Apparently there is some bad publicity circulating, quoting the S&R leader who describes the "dangerousness" of these trails. This is the kind of unwanted attention that mt biking doesn't need Shame on you Does anyone have any details on this?

There's some stuff floating around NSMB here:

Article says he fell off a fairly big log. Mistress Magic Bus...?

interesting dialogue on NSMB - is this where the accident occurred? I am a little surprised by this transition - it is so steep that it is too short - it is too easy to overshoot and if you go to slow you may case the top - either result is seriously bad news... but riders should beware. I would like to see the transition angled out a bit - making it a little longer and less steep. I guess I worry about someone really hurting themselves and then the province stepping in and ripping Eagle Mountain apart. I know the builders went to a great deal of effort and should be applauded for their hard work - but maybe we can make this a little safer?

The picture posted on that thread is just someone's speculation on where it happened, but then everyone takes it as fact. I have yet to hear anyone say that the rider was injured on that stunt for sure. The article quote on the first post just says it was off a jump and he hit a log. As I recall, there is not really any logs near the landing of that stunt.

just my .02

I hope buddy is alright.........danger, challenge and risk are what make our sport what it is.......for a cliche term.....extreme............personal responsibility on the side of the rider and the builder comes into play to I figure....flowy trails are cool.............gnarly, steep, shit my pants stunts are what it's all about for me.....
my 2 cents

With all of the recent work we've been doing, Eagle has attracked alot of new riders. I honestly don't beleive someone crashed on the 3Pigs stunt, I suspect it was the Mistress log the riders fell off as the news article spoke of a large log.

The 3 Pigs stunt would be rated as a doubled black diamond and I highly doubt any noob would be stupid enough to attempt it. Actually the entire trail would be bypassed by a noob.

If ya look you will find evidence of crashes all over the mountain. I'm constanly fixing stuff.

The greasy Mistress log ride.......yes it's fresh in my memory.

Crashing = riders challenging themselves, pushing their limits. That's what it's all about. IMO, the higher up a hill a stunty trail is, the better, with more climbing and pushing effort needed to get to the trail head, the better. It weeds out the weakerthans. Kinda like earning your turns in the back country. I'm not saying that the crasher was a shitty rider and that's why he crashed, just that harder to ride trails should be harder to get to.

Just my opinion love it or hate it. ....
